Blue Tree

Site-specific work for Atelier Blanchefosse (FR)

The Blue Tree is a tree that was supposed to be removed because of its lack of fruits. Instead, I engaged in a full restoration of its appearance by painting it with blue-sky water-based color, so it would become a chameleonic presence. The process implied a sort of movement-specific dance. After six months the tree was so happy of its new appearance that decided to sprout new leaves.

Both the Blue Tree and A Piece of Sky in the Grass were devised during a residency for Apes Container in Atelier Blanchefosse. The residency was based on barter: 3 hours of gardening or maintenance work on the aterlier’s premises in exchange for space, stayover, mini-symposia at every meal and cinema or documentaries every night.
